Biodivercity® Construction Label

The Biodivercity® Construction label certifies the action taken to address all biodiversity-related issues in the different stages of a real estate project.
Biodivercity® Construction is designed for all public and private, non-residential property stakeholders, whatever their size and whatever the type of building to be constructed or renovated: offices, retail outlet, warehouse, hotel, hospital, care home, childcare centre, school, campus, museum, library or stadium, etc.
Biodivercity® Construction is especially designed for buildings with (or who will have) large outdoor areas, on the ground or on the building. It can be applied in Construction or Renovation.
Its scope of analysis includes:
- the diversity of ecosystems: wall, patio, balcony, green roof, water feature, garden or atrium, etc.
- the diversity of species: plants, birds or insects, etc.
- the human aspect: spaces for living, working and relaxing, garden areas, etc.
A label issued by the CIBI association, after audits by Certivea
The Biodivercity® Construction scheme was developed by the International Biodiversity and Property Council (CIBI)1, whose mission is to design and construct buildings that give greater importance to nature. Certivea is a member of this association.
The label is based on a multicriteria approach organised around four key areas, which go beyond the requirements of the Biodivercity® Construction theme of HQE Sustainable Building certification:
· Project owner’s commitment to pursuing a biodiversity strategy
· Means implemented by the project owner for ecological architecture
· Assessment of the ecological benefits, requiring the intervention of an ecologist
· Benefits for users: the services associated with biodiversity that improve the wellbeing of users.
It is the CIBI, not Certivea, that issues the Biodivercity® Construction label. Certivea acts as an independent auditor, while also acting as a one-stop-shop for clients interested in several labels.
